Welcome to True Relationships Counseling

Loving Care For Everyone Who Needs!

Why are we called True Relationships? Two Big Reasons.

1.  We aim for TRUE. That refers to  Original Design,  focusing on what works and rejecting what is false. There are many false intimacies in this crazy world.  Initially, they SEEM to work, and ultimately, they wreak havoc on our lives, marriages, and families.  Significant personal struggles often result from not knowing the truth about what works. Self-esteem, parenting, conflict resolution, communication, and co-dependency are good examples of areas in which we can get it dead wrong.

2. Everything Rises and Falls on Relationships. Even counseling concerns that focus on the individual usually have one or more relational connections. Think about it. Anger is typically directed at someone. Anxiety is often triggered by relational stress. Divorce is the result of two people missing what is true. You can go down the list and connect nearly every malady to some relational deficit –  Infidelity,  Depression, Stress,  Trauma, PTSD, and Abuse.

FAQ's
  • Do you take insurance?  We are not on any insurance panels, but many clients use their HSA account.
  • Do you see children as clients? We accept ages 13 and up.
  • What is the cost of seeing a counselor? Depending on the counselor you choose, it will be between $135 – $150 per session. An appointment with our Spiritual Director is $100 per session.
  • Are you taking new clients? Yes
  • What are your counseling hours? Monday – Thursday 8 AM to 6 PM. What are your office/admin hours? 10 AM to 6PM.
  • Which types of therapies do your counselors use? Trauma, marriage, individual, teens, pre-marriage, mental health, emotional health, family, and spiritual direction.
  • Which counseling modalities are used? We integrate evidence-based approaches, including the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Spiritual Direction, thoughtfully tailoring our practice to meet each person and relationship where they are.
  • What is EMDR?  It is a therapy that helps people heal from upsetting or traumatic experiences that continue to affect them. During EMDR, you briefly recall a difficult memory while following a therapist’s guidance—often by moving your eyes back and forth or using gentle tapping or sounds. This process helps the brain “reprocess” the memory so it becomes less emotionally overwhelming.

Challenging the Divorce Rate Narrative The persistent myth of a 50% divorce rate has long haunted American couples, instilling unnecessary fear and doubt about the prospects of marital success. • Emotional Burnout in Relationships

Relationships are meant to provide connection, stability, and emotional support. But sometimes, instead of feeling safe and energized, a relationship begins to feel draining. What Clients Are Saying
I absolutely love [our counselor’s] straightforward style, and [their] ability to parse away more superficial inconveniences and get to the real issues/root of problems. [Their] ability to coach you through facing uncomfortable things head-on is so critical for breaking down walls. There is so much freedom in that. Working with [TR] had been a blessing that I will not forget.

We’ve sought several counselors throughout our marriage, and after our first session…our relationship drastically improved. [Our counselor] was honest and was not afraid to “tell it like it is.” It was what my husband and I both needed! We are looking forward to our next session, something I can say has never been the case for me in the past.

We were at a point of crisis in our relationship and several months ago, we turned to [TR]. After a few single-sessions and then a two-day intensive, our marriage is now the strongest and happiest that it has ever been. We are grateful for God’s Grace and [our counselor’s] guidance in realigning our marriage.

We highly recommend True Relationships; it was a game-changer for us. After nearly 30 years of marriage, we were about ready to throw in the towel. We had heard about…True Relationships counseling and decided to give them a shot. Now our relationship is amazing, due in large part to God, and the Intensive we [participated in].

Went to True Relations and did a 4-day marriage intensive with Tim. It was a great experience, and we received a lot of help and great advice, along with resources to help us continue building our relationship. Tim is compassionate, honest, and really good at what he does.

I came into the intensive with one hope: that I would leave feeling like there was at least a chance our marriage could move forward. What I never expected was the profound healing that would take place over just two days. [Our counselor] took what felt like a hopeless situation and, with [their] natural gift for connection, helped us not only see the path forward, but walk it. This approach to counseling is unlike anything we’ve experienced. With deep wisdom, a wealth of knowledge, and a rare willingness to share [their own] story, he was able to reach the core of our issues in a way no one else has.

Tim is truly anointed for this work. His insight, empathy, and authenticity created space for breakthrough after breakthrough. We’ve worked with other counselors in the past, but nothing has come close to the transformation we experienced through this intensive.
If you’re where I was—believing nothing can change and that your marriage is beyond repair—give [TR] and God a chance.

We heard about this place through a friend. We worked with Sheri Schmitt, a licensed counselor, who was able to help us out immensely. Very thankful for the help we got, and would definitely come here again if needed.
