Why Choose a 3-Day Intensive?
Traditional weekly counseling can be incredibly helpful, but sometimes couples need a deeper focus and faster progress. A Marriage Intensive provides just that. Over the course of three days, you and your spouse will take part in extended counseling sessions, guided exercises, and intentional homework.
This immersive process allows couples to:

While an intensive is not a “quick fix,” it maximizes your effort and creates momentum that weekly sessions often can’t achieve.
What Makes Our Intensives Unique?
At True Relationships, our Director of Counseling, Tim Buttrey, leads the Marriage Intensives. Tim’s own marriage was restored during an intensive with Harry Schaumburg back in 2000. Paying it forward to others has become a calling.
Each day, couples spend significant one-on-one time in counseling with Tim (five hours), followed by guided homework that builds on the progress made in session. Tim’s approach is not one-size-fits-all. Every couple receives a personalized, “organic” process—tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. Although core principles and tools are consistent, the path toward restoration looks different for each couple.

What does a 3-Day Intensive include?
Couples spend more than half of each day in counseling sessions, followed by structured homework assignments. The combination of focused therapy and guided practice makes the experience especially impactful.
What is the cost?
The investment for a 3-Day Marriage Intensive is $3,000. This reflects the extended counseling hours, personalized resources, and dedicated time required for such a focused experience.
Do you offer shorter intensives?
While exceptions are possible, we strongly recommend the full three days. Shorter programs are generally not sufficient for couples experiencing major crises such as trauma, betrayal, or the threat of divorce.
Are the Intensives held on certain days?
Generally, we like to schedule Intensives from Thursday to Saturday. There have been situations when a couple has requested different days, and we do our best to accommodate those requests.
